Video Highlight: NSF Fellowship

Ashley Parker, a Ph.D. student in biomedical engineering, is creating a future with fewer traumatic wound infections. She is developing a degradable drug delivery system that can be tailored for each patient directly in the operating room to help control and minimize traumatic infections. Ashley's goals are for this research to help reduce the impact of musculoskeletal wound infections for civilian and military patients and change the way these infections are treated. Memphis City Schools in Partnership with the University of Memphis Selected for Garrett A. Morgan Grant

The Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration has awarded the Garrett A. Morgan Technology and Transportation Education Program grant to Wooddale High School in partnership with the Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute (IFTI) at the University of Memphis for their proposed Memphis Transportation Engineering Careers (TREC) project. National Science Foundation Grant Will Benefit Severely Hearing-impaired Individuals

A grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to Dr. Bonny Banerjee, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering and Institute for Intelligent Systems at the University of Memphis, will not only foster interdisciplinary research bringing together fields as diverse as computer engineering and audiology, but will eventually allow severely hearing-impaired people lead the lives of their normal-hearing counterparts. TDOT Commissioner Schroer Speaks at the Intermodal Freight Conference

The Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute (IFTI) hosted the 6th Annual Intermodal Freight Conference on the University of Memphis campus October 30, 2012. The conference connects transportation industry professionals to cutting edge research reports and outstanding speakers including the highest ranking Tennessee Department of Transportation employee, Commissioner Schroer, Congressman Steve Cohen, as well as Jacques Rochon, Acting Director General of International Relations and Gateway Initiatives for Transport Canada. John A. Pafford

John A. Pafford (B.S.E.T. 1987) is the 2011 Outstanding Alumnus from the Herff College of Engineering. A co-founder of Spine Wave, Pafford has more than 30 years of experience in the orthopedic industry with 20 years in senior management.
