ITE Student Chapter Wins Grant Second Year In A Row
The Institute of Transportation Engineers Student Chapter at The University of Memphis has been selected as one of 5 grant recipients for its 2009 Trip/Parking Generation data collection proposal. Proposals were received from 17 different schools. The work performed by the ITE Student Chapter will assist with the publication of a future edition of Trip Generation and Parking Generation. Students in CIVL 3161 – Transportation Systems Engineering will be collecting trip generation and parking data for three Coffee/Donut shops in the Memphis area for the 2009 project. Mentors for the project include Department of Civil Engineering alumni Greg Dotson, of Gresham Smith & Partners, and faculty advisor and course instructor Dr. Stephanie Ivey. The students will summarize all data and submit a formal report to the International Board of ITE at the end of the Spring 2009 semester. The ITE Student Chapter will receive $1000 upon completion of the project.
