Dan Kohn Named Outstanding Branch Counselor
Dan Kohn, Assistant Professor for Engineering Technology at the University of Memphis
was recognized as an IEEE Outstanding Student Branch Counselor. This award is reserved
for individuals who, through their work as Counselors and Advisors, exemplify the
Institute’s commitment to the educational, personal, professional, and technical development
of students in IEEE related fields of interest. 28 individuals from around the world
received this honor! Mr. Kohn was one of four who received it within Region 3 -the
southeastern United States region and Jamaica.
A unique and special element of this award is that the students submit an essay on
why they feel their Branch Counselor has earned the qualifications of Outstanding
Branch Counselor and Advisor for the year. The faculty member’s interaction and activities
are an important part of the award criteria.
IEEE' is the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology.

professionals everywhere, and be universally recognized for the contributions of technology
