Belle McWilliams Scholarship
The University of Memphis History Department and the Belle McWilliams Fund offer one
or more scholarships to undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
For the upcoming academic year (2013-2014) there will be one scholarship of $2500.
Recipients must be residents of the United States, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or
higher, demonstrate a special interest in United States history, and have a record
of diverse extracurricular activities. Applications for the next academic year must
be completed by 4:30 pm on 12 April. An application form is available as a PDF document
(download the form). A poster about the 2013-2014 scholarship is also available as a PDF document (download the form).
All the required materials for the application, including the application form itself,
a letter of recommendation, and an unofficial University of Memphis academic transcript,
must be sent in electronic form by 4 pm on Friday, 20 April, to Ms Karen Jackett at
mkmiller@memphis.edu. The application form can be filled in and saved using the latest version of Adobe
Reader (version X). Plug-ins for browsers will usually allow you to fill in and print
the form but some will allow saving the completed form and others will not. The surest
way to work with the file is that if it does not open in Adobe Reader when you download
it, save the file before you enter any information and then load the saved file into
Adobe Reader. You then should be able to fill in the form, save it with all the information,
and send the saved file to Ms Jackett as an attachment to an e-mail message.
