The Instruction and Curriculum Leadership (ICL) Department offers both undergraduate
and graduate degrees. Our mission is to develop educational leaders through teaching,
research and service. The ICL department offers an undergraduate BSED degree and four
graduate degrees: MAT, MS, EdS, EdD in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Instructional
Design Technology, Middle School Education, Reading Education, Secondary Education
and Special Education.
The ICL Department supports the overall mission of the University of Memphis and
the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences by preparing instructional leaders
who engage in effective practice and whose experience is relevant to diverse local
and global communities. We are committed to providing leadership and quality programs
through excellence in teacher education programs and also in developing teachers who
are inspired to engage in critical thinking, problem solving, and lifelong learning.
The University of Memphis has offered education classes in West Tennessee since
1955. Now located on the campuses of Jackson State Community College, Dyersburg State Community College, and the Millington Center, residents of West Tennessee can complete both graduate and undergraduate degrees
in education.
