Welcome to the Elementary Education Program at the University of Memphis. We are a part of the Instruction and Curriculum Leadership Department in the College of Education. Below is current information about our programs and the degrees (licensure and graduate) we offer in Elementary Education.

Mission Statement

The Elementary Education Program supports the overall mission of The University of Memphis and The College of Education by preparing instructional leaders who engage in effective practice and whose experience is relevant to diverse local and global communities. A majority of the Elementary Education courses involve clinical experiences, theory, and practice that directly relate to the components of the College of Education's Pillars of Practice Model. This 6-strand model incorporates a) content, b) knowledge of learners, c) pedagogy, d) assessment and reflective practice, e) classroom and individual management, and f) personal and professional growth and development.
