The IDT doctoral program is designed to produce scholars and researchers who will
work in academic environments. This rigorous graduate program was founded in 1984.
Instructional Systems Design is the theoretical underpinning of the field, while cognition
and learning theory also contribute to the theoretical base. IDT is a systematic field,
focusing on product, process, and environment.
Current doctoral enrollment is approximately fifty students, and roughly eight new
doctoral students are admitted per academic year.
