Dr. Susan Elswick, Ed.D |
Susan E. Elswick is a recent graduate of the University of Memphis.She received her
doctorate in the Special Education program area with an emphasis in Applied Behavior
Analysis (ABA). She has over 13 years of mental health experience in in-patient, out-patient,
school-based, and in-home services modalities. She is currently employed as a school-based
social worker in Memphis City Schools and has worked in this capacity for five years.
During her years of service with the Memphis City Schools she has participated in
work with training teachers and support staff on Response to Intervention (RtI), Functional
Behavioral assessments (FBA) and behavioral intervention plans (BIP) as well as offering
direct clinical services to students within the Memphis City Schools. She serves as
one two lead school social workers in the district. She works tirelessly to research
evidence-based practices for student behavior and training other practitioners to
utilize these interventions in the applied setting. She has worked collaboratively
on several projects within the school district and she has been instrumental in developing
a three tiered system for addressing student behavior within the school district.
As a direct result of her research while at the University of Memphis, she has many
publications in peer reviewed journals, Beyond Behavior, Children and Schools and
Delta Education Journal just to name a few. She also has multiple other manuscripts
under review in top tier journals, has been accepted and presented a paper at a regional
conference, and has had three other paper presentation accepted at National Educational
conferences.
