Electronic health record systems are being used to record doctor-patient interactions.
The record includes various descriptive, objective, subjective information regarding
the patient and the various tests performed by the doctor. There have not been many
studies, which indicate the quality of the chart note. We evaluated the quality of
over 1000 medical records using a range of computer models. We also developed an enhanced
EHR system, which gives feedback to the user based on the language used in the chart
note. Preliminary results indicate that the feedback helps in improving the quality
of the chart notes. This project is funded by NIH and is carried out in collaboration
between the University of Memphis and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
