Internship Success Stories

Jonathan Bennett"My experience in Washington has exceeded my wildest expectations in sharpening and furthering my academic development. As a research assistant, I co-authored two papers and worked with public and private sector leaders in the founding of SAGE-Strengthening America's Global Engagement-the first independent public diplomacy organization in the United States. The unique nature of my academic course-most embodied in the fact that it was actually taught in the headquarters of Amnesty International-has made it a valuable experience as well."

Porter-Leath

At Porter-Leath, we believe that experience is the best teacher. Porter-Leath Head Start/Early Head Start centers offer the opportunity to intern at an accredited NAEYC center to future educators or those interested in working with children. Our three centers serve children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. We seek interns who help to fulfill our mission of ‘Better Children. Better Families’ for Memphis. Interns will receive a well-rounded experience by participating in the classroom, assisting with front desk duties, working with our Family Services staff, and interacting with parents. Our centers host interns in the Fall and Spring semester, but applications are accepted year-round.  For more information, contact Latasha Brown, Head Start Director (lmalone@porterleath.org) or Karen Harrell, VP of Early Childhood Services (kharrell@porterleath.org), 901-577-2500. You may also visit the Porter-Leath website at www.porterleath.org.
