Welcome
The University of Memphis Institutional Review Board is a committee designed to approve,
monitor, and review any research involving humans. The aim of the IRB is to protect
the rights and welfare of the research subjects.
This web site is designed to guide you through the process of obtaining approval for
human subject research. The Education Requirements page will link you to a page where you can obtain certification to conduct research
involving human subjects. Effective 6/30/12, certification is required for the investigator
and, if applicable, the faculty advisor before the IRB will process your application.
Please include the CITI certification number in your application. See IRB Forms to download the most current applications, final/progress reports, template consent
forms and other important documents.
See the FAQ for general questions. The Decision Guide can help you answer questions such as: Am I involved in research? Does the research
involve Human Subjects?
If you need to report a study-related injury, or if you have questions, please contact
the IRB Administrator at irb@memphis.edu or 901-678-3074.
If you have any concerns regarding integrity and ethics in research and scholarship
at U of Memphis, please do not hesitate to call (901) 678-3074 or email irb@memphis.edu. The confidentiality of anyone who contacts the office will be protected under the
