International Student Office
The ISO web site is currently under review and revision - most of the links are currently inactive. Please feel free to contact International Student Services in the Office of Admissions at: TheWorld@memphis.edu.
The International Student Office serves the more than 600 F-1 visa holders currently linked to The University of Memphis via the United States Department of Homeland Security's official record keeping system, called SEVIS. We are here to assist with federal compliance for F-1 visa holders and their F-2 visa holding family members, to include mandatory verification documents needed for the Social Security Administration, state drivers license offices, and similar government agencies. We also serve as the adjudication agent for Curricular Practical Training, the official signers for travel endorsements on the form I-20, and as the office responsible for multiple issues related to Post Completion Practical Training, change of status applications, and reinstatement applications.
The International Student Office provides information related to these topics not only to F-1 visa holders, but to any prospective F-1 applicant who is or will be a student at The University. We are also responsible for maintaining University compliance with the United States Student and Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS) which reports directly to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement division of Homeland Security (ICE). Outside of compliance and reporting issues, we conduct an international student orientation each semester, coordinate insurance information, and assist student groups with a variety of cultural functions.
