Naming Conventions

Created Accounts

Due to the synchronization of Active Directory with the Metadirectory for UUIDs, all accounts must be unique. Thus, accounts created in an OU are required to be prefixed with the OU code as follows:

(OUName)-(accountID)

Valid Example: css-student01,cas-temp01

Invalid Examples: jhnsmth1, student01

Sub-Organizational Units

The standard for naming a GPO is the following:

(OUName)-(SubOUName)-(GPO)

Valid example: CJI-GPO, CAS-Automatic Updates

Invalid example: gpotest, Automatic Update GPO-CAS
