1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.

2. Click on Network.

3. Under Show, select Network Port Configurations.

4. Make sure Modem Port is checked and click Apply Now.

5. Under Show, select Modem Port.

6. Choose the PPP tab. Under Account Name enter your UUID. The number you should put under Telephone Number is the following:

• students: 678-3600
• staff: 678-4600

Click Apply Now.

7. Under the Modem tab, check the box next to Show modem status in menu bar. Then close System Preferences.

8. Click the telephone icon in the upper right corner of your screen, and select Connect.

9. Enter your UUID's password and click OK.

You will then be connected to the University Of Memphis network.

When finished, disconnect to hang up the phone line.

Note: The maximum connect time for all modems is two hours for connections made from 6 a.m. until midnight, and four hours for connections made from midnight until 6AM. The network server will automatically break the connection if you have not logged off by then.

If your username and password fail, re-enter your UUID and password to complete the connection. If the problem persists, you will need to check with the Information Technology Service Center at 901-678-8888 to verify the account information.
