Note: Before beginning these instructions make sure the telephone modem is connected
to the phone line.
1. Open your Start menu, and select the Control Panel:

2. On the Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections:

3. On the Network and Internet Connections panel, click Network Connections:

4. On the Network Connections panel, click Create a new connection:

5. Click Next to begin using the wizard:

6. On this page of the wizard, click the button next to Connect to the Internet, and click Next:

7. On the this page of the wizard, specify Set up my connection manually by clicking the adjacent button. Click Next:

8. Click the button next to Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next:

9. Specify a connection name by typing a name into the text field (ie. The University
of Memphis). Click Next.

10. Type in the dial-up telephone number:
- Students: 678-3600
- Faculty/Staff: 678-4600

11. Provide the information for the following:
- Username: enter your UUID
- Password: your UUID's password
- Confirm password: retype your UUID's password
The following are optional:
- "Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this
Computer."
- "Make this the default Internet connection" (If other types of network connections
exist such as AOL, BellSouth, RoadRunner,etc., you may want to leave this box unchecked.
Click Next when completed.

12. The connection setup is complete. Check the box Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop, and click Finish.

13. A new icon will appear on the desktop entitled the name you chose for the connection
(ie. The University of Memphis). Double-click on that icon and hit dial. Your UUID/password
should already be filled in. If your information is not filled in, you must enter
it.
