ITD has developed standards for encryption to ensure that confidential data is protected from disclosure.  Local Support Providers (LSPs) are responsible for assisting their users in encrypting laptop hard drives and any portable devices or media used to store University confidential data.

TrueCrypt is a FREE open-source encryption software available for download at http://www.truecrypt.org.

TrueCrypt works with Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems and encrypts data using a 128-bit or 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) key.
