The Technology Access Fee (TAF) is a special fee paid each semester by U of M students
to fund student-related technologies at the University of Memphis. Each year, a large
portion of Technology Access Fee funds are spent to purchase computers for the university's
TAF labs, located across campus and at its satellite campuses.
ITS coordinates the purchase and distribution of TAF lab computers, which number over
1,300 in 54 TAF labs. ITS also coordinates the purchase and installation of other
TAF-funded equipment, such as Smart Carts, iPrint kiosks, mobile laptop carts, and
Smart Classroom equipment.
ITS has created a system called the Technology Resource Locator (TRL) that lists the
TAF-funded equipment at the university.
