36 semester hours. Three options exist: 30 hours encompassing 8 three-hour courses
and a six-hour thesis; 33 hours encompassing 10 three hour courses and a three-hour

a specialty study and culminating experience .
Admission
Admission to the program requires an undergraduate degree and a satisfactory test
score on the Graduate Record Examination or the Miller Analogies Test. As degree program
applicants, prospective students should ask the record office at schools at which
they earned credits toward their baccalaureate to forward transcripts of their records
to The University of Memphis Graduate Admissions.
Students also must arrange to take one of the admission tests and have results sent

room 216 Memphis, TN 38152.
School Accreditation
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits the University of Memphis,
the accrediting agency for all post-secondary institutions in the southeastern United
States. The Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication
(ACEJMC) accredits the online program, which is identical to the on-campus program.
The ACEJMC is the only U.S. agency that accredits Journalism and Mass Communication
programs.
