About Prof. Bob Willis
Prof. Bob Willis has taught at the University of Memphis since 1996, in the public relations sequence. He also serves as the business and advertising manager for The Daily Helmsman - the independent student newspaper of The University of Memphis.
Prof. Willis earned his B.A in journalism from the University of Oklahoma, and spent more than 20 years working in print journalism, public relations and business-to-business marketing communications for several companies, spending his last five years working for a Fortune 100 company headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. He returned to school for his M.A. in Public Relations, which he received from Ball State University, and then proceeded to teach two years each at Boston College and the University of Wisconsin before coming to The University of Memphis.
While most of this time is devoted to his work with The Daily Helmsman, Prof. Willis has taught a variety of courses, including Introduction to Public Relations, Public Relations Campaigns, Media & Society, and Advertising Copywriting.
Aside from teaching and The Daily Helmsman, Prof. Willis enjoys reading, board games, church activities, spending time with his grandson, and listening to jazz.
