The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law offers an outstanding tradition
of practical legal education, emphasizing the analytical skills and ethical responsibility
necessary to practice law, along with the practical skills of research, writing, and
oral advocacy. Our students pass the bar and find employment at rates that historically
are among the best in Tennessee, and that consistently exceed the national average.
More than 5,000 graduates work in all 50 states and have attained prominence as lawyers,
judges, and public officials.
Strong co-curricular offerings complement our academic programs, providing students
with numerous opportunities to further enhance their skills and knowledge, including:
These opportunities, combined with our dedicated faculty, challenging curriculum and
diverse student body, make Memphis Law an excellent choice for your legal career.
Recently relocated in a completely renovated, historic U.S. Customs House/Court House/Post
Office overlooking the Mississippi River, we are just blocks from the state and federal
courts, in the heart of the region’s most important concentration of law firms, government
offices, and cultural attractions. This location has enhanced our already strong relationship
with the legal community and greatly increases the opportunities for meaningful externship
and clerking experiences while attending Memphis Law.
