Message from President Raines Message from President Raines

Welcome to the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law web site devoted to the school's capital campaign as we begin the Countdown to Downtown.

The law school attracts students from across the country and around the globe. It offers a challenging program that has earned a reputation for quality and for graduating students who are well qualified to join the bar and practice of law.

We are probably best known for our consistently high passage rate on the bar exam, ranking first or second in the state among public or private law schools. In addition, our graduates are placed in jobs after graduation at a rate of 98%, that's the highest percentage in the state of Tennessee, and it's equivalent to or better than many of the Ivy League law schools in the Northeast.

The campaign offers numerous opportunities to invest for donors. In order to make the law school a reality the law school will continue to need more public and private partnerships. The capital campaign will provide financial support, which will provide equally for the transfer of the building and augmenting the endowment for student scholarships, faculty professorships and program support.

The enthusiasm is here because we see the value. This campaign is the most important and ambitious project since the schools founding over 50 years ago. This indeed is an exciting time in our history. I encourage you to get involved.
