If ever you have concerns please let one of your Bar Governors or another SBA Officer know.  The SBA is here to help you.

Every student is a member of the Student Bar association and has an opportunity to serve in SBA leadership roles as a Class Bar Governor or Officer. The Student Bar is recognized as the representative organization of all students and works to call to the attention of the law faculty and administration the needs of the students.

Fall 2009 will mark the second year of the SBA's Speaker Series. During the 2008-2009 academic year the SBA was fortunate enough to have former Tennessee Attorney General Paul G. Summers, Congressman Steve Cohen, and the Honorable Russell B. Sugarmon (listed in their order of appearance) accept invitations to speak to the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.  This year we look forward to continued success in obtaining prominent members of the legal community to come speak to our law school.  Further information will be available soon.

The SBA also organizes social events such as the Barristers Ball, a semi-formal dance each fall, and the spring semester's "Flaw Review," a lighthearted spoof of law school life. Other social activities the SBA provides to the students are a golf tournaments in the fall semester with a portion of the money going to charity, and a 5K Run "Race Judicata" in the spring to benefit Memphis Area Legal Services.  The SBA also sells merchandise (t-shirts, etc.) to raise money for events.  The SBA also actively seeks ways for students to meet more informally with the faculty and alumni through lectures and social gatherings, as well as taking an active role in the community through various community service projects.
