Brief Biography 

Ashlesha Lokhande is a Research Coordinator in the Center for the Study of Higher Education in the Department of Leadership at the University of Memphis. She also serves on the Strategic Planning Committee for the Department of Leadership. Additionally, she is the Director of Emerging Leaders Development at LeadershipWorks and Highpoint Church.

Ashlesha is currently working on her doctoral degree in Leadership and Policy Studies. She received her master's degree in Sports Administration from Marshall University and her bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Arkansas State University.
Prior to joining the Department of Leadership, she was the Academic Counselor for Football (Defense) at the Center for Athletic Academic Services (CAAS) at the University of Memphis for five years. In addition to serving as an Academic Counselor, Ashlesha was the Cultivating Academic Tigers (CAT) Coordinator at CAAS, a summer bridge program for incoming freshman and transfers. Previously she was the Academic Counselor for Football (Defense), Women's Golf, Women's Tennis and Volleyball at the University of Southern Mississippi. She has also taught Academic Strategies courses for freshmen student-athletes and at-risk students at both institutions. Ashlesha served a year as an Academic Advising Intern for Football (freshman and sophomore) and assisted with Life Skills at the University of Miami from 2009-2010 and as a Graduate Assistant at Buck Harless Student Athlete Program at Marshall University from 2008-2009 while attending graduate school.

Ashlesha was a student-athlete at Arkansas State University as a member of the Women's Tennis team and also served as a tutor and mentor for other student-athletes. During her senior year, she was an intern with the Life Skills Program for student-athletes at Arkansas State University.

Ashlesha is originally from India. She is active in local missions in Memphis and global missions in Peru through Highpoint Church. She is also an occasional foster parent for dogs through Bark and Soul Rescue. She resides in Memphis with her two Shih Tzus -Spicy and Sasha.
