The primary purpose of the University Libraries is to serve the students, faculty,
and staff of the University of Memphis and they have first priority for access to
our resources and facilities. However, we do have a limited number of computers which
may be used by visiting students, faculty and community members.
Guests wanting to use university computers in the Ned R. McWherter Library must have
a Computer Use Card, which can be obtained at the Check-Out Desk on the first floor
of the library. Identification will be required. Once the card has been issued, guests
may ask an employee at the Research and Information Services Desk in the first floor
Learning Commons of the McWherter Library to log them on to one of six guest computers,
on a space-available basis. Adults accompanied by children may request one additional
guest log-in for children, if space is available. Guests under 18 years of age must
be accompanied by an adult.
Guest accounts are limited to one log-in per day for up to two hours during regular McWherter Library hours.
Guests may access the Internet, our information resources, and basic Microsoft Office
programs. Guests may print by purchasing and adding money to a copy card. Guests should
bring a USB drive or other storage device because nothing can be saved on the computers.
