Recall
If an item you need is checked out, you may request that it be recalled. When the item is returned, you will be notified by email, and the item will be held for you at the Circulation Desk for seven days. If the item is found in one of the branch libraries, it will be held at the Circulation Desk in that library.
If you receive a Recall notice for something checked out to you, you will be given fourteen days to return it. A $1.00 per day fine will be charged after that time.
Search
If you cannot locate an item during your visit to McWherter Library, we will continue to search for the item for two weeks. We will notify you by email on the third business day regarding the status of the search. At that time, we will give you three options: (1) pick up located book at Circulation desk within five days, (2) inquire through InterLibrary Loan if item is assumed lost, or (3) have staff continue search if item is still not found.
Hold
If you would like to see an item after it has been returned but do not need to recall it immediately, you may request a Hold. When it is returned, you will be notified by email, and the item will be held for you at the Circulation Desk for five days. If the item is found in one of the branch libraries, it will be held at the Circulation Desk in that library.
If you do not have your student identification card upon checkout, you will not be able to check out materials. The Circulation staff will be happy to hold the items for five days. If you have not picked up the items by then, they will be returned to the stacks.
