The University of Memphis CHAMPS/Life Skills
Challenging Athletes' Minds for Personal Success (CHAMPS)
In 1994, the Division 1A Directors' CHAMPS program and the NCAA Life Skills program joined forces to become the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. The mission of the NCAA is to maintain intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the campus educational program and the athlete as an integral part of the student body. With this in mind, the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program represents the comprehensive commitment by the University of Memphis Athletic Department to develop and foster the total growth and development of our student-athletes.
CHAMPS/Life Skills was created to support the student development initiatives of its member institutions and to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience within the university setting. The program is important because it provides the student-athlete with the necessary tools to succeed in his or her sport as well as other areas of life such as the classroom, the community, and the workplace.
Please contact the Life Skills Coordinator with any questions about the CHAMPS/Life Skills program.
