The University of Memphis celebrated the second anniversary of its Confucius Institute
with an unveiling of a statue of the Sage in Wilder Tower. The Institute promotes
understanding of the Chinese language and culture, helps to develop friendly relations
between the U.S. and China and encourages faculty and student exchange programs, among
many other things.
The University is one of only 150 locations around the world hosting a Confucius Institute.
