1949

William H. Williams (BS, LLB '55) retired as a Shelby County senior criminal court judge. He is a former assistant district attorney and attorney for Shelby County.

1961

John P. Colton Jr. (BS, LLB '64), a Tennessee criminal court judge, was named to the Christian Brothers High School Hall of Fame.

1963

David C. Peck (BBA) received the 2002 Hall of Fame Commercial Real Estate Award from the Memphis Area Association of Realtors. He also was honored at Carnival Memphis' 19th annual Business and Industry Salute. Peck is president and CEO of Weston Companies.

1964

Benjiman D. Webb (BA) is a professor of German and director of the Honors Program at the University of Miami. Webb received Miami's Outstanding Teaching Award for 2003 and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He also received the Germany's Distinguished Service Cross First Class for his efforts to promote cross-cultural awareness and cooperation in Miami and Dade County.

1965

John O. Davis (BBA) donated 75,000 frequent flyer miles to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fly critically ill children anywhere they want to go. He lives in Marietta, Ga.


Kay Smith EarhartKay Smith Earhart (BSEd) is supervisor of language arts, reading and foreign language for the Duval County School District in Jacksonville, Fla. Her responsibilities include curriculum design, professional development, and instructional material review and selection for the district's 27,000 students. Earhart received a master of education degree in educational leadership from the University of North Florida in 1994.


Richard McCullyJudge Richard P. McCully (BS, JD '68) was recognized for his 30 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. McCully, who lives in Atlanta, is a federal judge in the northern district of Georgia.

 

Gerald A. "Jerry" Rudoff (BS), a lieutenant with the Miami-Dade Police Department, retired after 33 years of service. Rudoff also is chair of Youth Crime Watch of America.

1967

Chuck MancabelliCol. Charles R. "Chuck" Mancabelli (BS, MEd '72), assistant commander of the New York Guard-Air, received two of New York's highest military honors: the Defense of Liberty Medal for homeland defense missions he performed following the World Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and the Conspicuous Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious service as a member of the New York Organized Militia. Mancabelli lives in Solvay, N.Y.

1971

Thomas A. Appleton (BA) co-edited Searching for Their Places: Women in the South Across Four Centuries, a collection of essays inspired by the Fifth Southern Conference on Women's History. Appleton is a professor of history at Eastern Kentucky University.

1972

Rick Bolton (BS) is a senior project manager with AMEC's earth and environmental office in Nashville.

Nancy K. Johnson (BA, MA '76) is a self-employed market researcher in Milton, N.H., and is serving her third term in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

Greg Middleton (BSEd) has written his first book, In Search of the Soul, published by Dorrance Publishing. He lives in Pasadena, Calif., where he is a realtor with Dilbeck GMAC Real Estate and a professional musician.

Beverly Pangle Scott (BSEd, MEd '77) has authored Thank You, Sister: Memories of Growing Up Catholic.

Joe Ted Reams (BSEd) was promoted to the rank of colonel in the Air Force Reserve. He was activated in support of the global war on terrorism in 2002 and is serving as command historian for the Pacific Command at Camp H.M. Smith in Oahu, Hawaii. Reams and his wife, Carol, live near Atlanta.

1973

Raymond Butler Jr. (BA) is president of Steelcraft Corp., a designer and manufacturer of air systems and engineered steel products.

Deborah Faulkner (BA) has been named acting chief of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. She is senior deputy chief of the department in charge of field operations.

Elaine P. Millen (BA) was elected deputy district governor of the 7th District of the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen. She is owner of TeknoLink Marketing Services.

Gordon Wilson (BS) is vice president of sales and marketing for John Roebuck and Associates. He has more than 30 years of experience in communications, marketing and community relations.

1974

Kavanaugh Casey (BA) is director of development for the Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center Foundation.

Dr. Robert L. Gardino (BS) was named the Memphis Italian Festival's 2003 Outstanding Italian. The Memphis dentist has been involved in many philanthropic activities, including MIFA's Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity.

David Wade (JD), an attorney with Martin, Tate, Morrow & Marston, was named to the Christian Brothers High School Hall of Fame. He is a past president of the Memphis Bar Association.

Ronald E. Cardwell (JD), shareholder with Cardwell Conner PC in Greenville, S.C., authored the chapter on CERCLA, commonly known as Superfund, for the 17th edition of the Environmental Law Handbook.

Jack Fosbinder (JD), an attorney and lobbyist, has joined the law firm of Farris Mathews Branan Bobango & Hellen.

John W. McConomy (JD) is senior vice president and general counsel for ResortQuest International Inc. in Destin, Fla.

1976

Danny Langston (BSEE) is an electrical engineer with Pickering Firm Inc.

Lynn Petty (BSCE, MS '78), site engineering supervisor in the Tennessee Valley Authority's Fossil Power Group in Chattanooga, was named TVA Engineer of the Year for helping maintain environmental compliance at TVA fossil plants throughout the Tennessee Valley.

Dorothy J. Pounders (BSEd, JD '81) has been named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She is managing partner of Pounders Coleman and concentrates her practice in the areas of family law, litigation, arbitration and mediation.


Larry RiceLarry Rice (JD) practices divorce law and lectures throughout the country. He is speaking at the American Bar Association meeting in San Francisco this summer.

 


Peggy WintersPeggy Fincher Winters (BSEd), advertising and marketing communications professor and founder of the internship program at the Fashion Institute of Technology/State University of New York, has published a book, BRANDSTAND: Strategies for Retail Brand Building. She and her husband, Dr. Arthur A. Winters, run a consulting firm, TFI Geomarketing, and have presented seminars in China and Russia.

R. Hunter Humphreys (JD) was listed as a leading attorney in the areas of real estate and secured lending in America's Leading Business Lawyers. He is with Glankler Brown.

1978

Sue Barnard Lynn (BA, MAT '92), a teacher at Farmington Elementary School, was named Germantown's 2003 Teacher of the Year. She and her husband, Morgan Lynn, have been married for 26 years and have two children.

Gary MosleyGary T. Mosley (BBA) is sales director for BellSouth's business sales in West Tennessee.



1979

Scott McClure (BA) has joined Brighton, a marketing communications agency in St. Louis. He and his wife, Drenna, live in O'Fallon, Mo., and have three sons.

Larry Robinson (BS) was appointed provost of Florida A&M University. He had been director and professor in the FAMU Environmental Sciences Institute.

1980

Patti Embry-TautenhanPatti Embry-Tautenhan (BSEd) is vice president of public affairs and marketing at Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston. She is responsible for public affairs, community and media relations, marketing and advertising for the medical center.


Larry Fischer
(BS) is vice president and actuary of RGA Reinsurance Company. He and his wife have a son, and in February they adopted a baby girl from China. They live in Ballwin, Mo.

1981

Martin PierceMartin Pierce (JD) has been named an estate-planning law specialist by the Estate Law Specialist Board Inc. He is a member of the Chattanooga office of Husch & Eppenberger LLC.

 

Paula Spears (BSN) is administrative director of professional practices and advancement at Methodist Healthcare. Before joining Methodist, she was quality improvement manager at UT-Bowld Hospital.

1982

Richard England (MM, EdD '85) presented his paper, "Rethinking the Assessment of Maladaptive Behavior," at the Oxford Round Table at Lincoln College in the University of Oxford. The presentations followed the publication of his book, Displaced Children in Crisis: Our Enabling System for High Risk Behavior. England is an associate professor at Freed-Hardeman University.

Christie Ince Taylor (BM) of Greenville, S.C., has started her own company, Make Doggone Sure Canine Toxic Mold and Termite Detection. She is a Master Termite Technician and IAQA Certified Indoor Environmentalist. Taylor travels throughout the Southeast, using her certified detection dogs to identify structural problems and test indoor air quality.

1983

Charles Goforth (BPS) is director of business development and planning for the Memphis office of Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon.

1984

Walter Crews (BPS, MS '91), former director of the Memphis Police Department, is executive director of Crime Stoppers.

Grace Hutchinson (MBA) is Shelby County Commission chief administrator.

1985

Greg Duckett (JD) was elected chair of the Shelby County Election Commission. He is senior vice president and corporate counsel with Baptist Memorial Health Care System and a U of M Foundation trustee.

Lisa Geater (MPA) is the Memphis City Council administrator responsible for the executive committee.

Robert Gillen (BSET) is a product leader at Acxiom Corporation, a data management company in Little Rock. A former Air Force officer, he is the father of three sons.

Randall T. Jones (BA) is manager of Strayer University's Memphis campus.

Tom Henderson (JD) is managing partner of the law firm Lewis Fisher Henderson Claxton & Mulroy.

Gregory SingletonGregory R. Singleton (BSEd, MS '94) was awarded the Kappa Alpha Order Interfraternal Service Accolade for service to the college fraternity system. He is associate dean of students at the University of Miami and former Greek affairs coordinator at the U of M.

1986

Mari Burns Lee (MFA) authored the poem "Company," which was published in Northwoods Journal. Two of her oil paintings were displayed in a group show at the Garland County Library in Hot Springs, Ark., in 2002. Another oil painting, "Curtain Call," is on display in the Washington, D.C., office of Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lambert Lincoln. Lee lives in Little Rock.

Tim Walker (BSEE), a MetLife financial services representative, qualified for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table. He lives in Dyersburg.

1987

Didier Aur (BSEd, MEd '89) was named to the Christian Brothers High School Hall of Fame. Aur, principal of Holy Names Catholic School, taught and coached soccer at CBHS for 10 years.

Barbara England (BSEd, EdD '00) was named chair of the Fine Arts Department at Freed-Hardeman University, where she is an assistant professor of art.

1988

Gary BridgmanGary Bridgman (BA) was elected president of the Wolf River Conservancy. He is director of Inferno, a Memphis advertising agency.

 


Marilyn Califf (MFA) won the Artists' Link Prize at the Arts in the Park festival for her black-and-white photograph "Childhood Joy." Another photo, "One Way," was exhibited by Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, N.C. Califf is an adjunct professor at Southwest Tennessee Community College and has taught classes in photography and design at Memphis Botanic Garden.

Freida Hamm (MFA) had a showing of new paintings at the David Lusk Gallery this summer highlighting her travels to Scotland, England, North Carolina and Louisiana. She lives in Selmer, Tenn.

Tona Jackson Simpson (BA, MA '95) is director of development for St. George's Schools, where she oversees fund raising, alumni programming, publications and public relations. She lives in Cordova with her husband, Randy Simpson (BBA '90), and their children, Kaitlin and Jackson.

Steven Williams (JD) has been admitted to practice as a solicitor and barrister before the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia. He and his wife, Helen, live in Sydney.

1989

Rebecca Benton Bothwell (BA) was promoted to managing editor for Southern Progress Corporation's Custom Publishing Division. She joined the company eight years ago as copy editor for Southern Living magazine and served as copy chief.

Maura Black Sullivan (BA, MA '97) supervisor of research for the Shelby County Schools, was named to the Shelby County Election Commission.

Alice Faye Duncan Thompson (BA), local author and librarian at Middle College High School, was selected the Memphis Area Library Council's Librarian of the Year.

Robin H. Rasmussen (BA, JD '94) is an associate with the law firm of Apperson, Crump & Maxwell. She has been practicing labor and employment law for nine years.

Keith VanderSteeg (BBA) was named senior vice president of loan administration for BancorpSouth's northwest region. He had served as president of the Collierville and Millington branches since joining the company in 1994.

1991

Milton J. Henderson Jr. (BSME) and Tennese Martin Henderson (BSEE '90) welcomed the birth of their second son, Desmond J. Henderson, on Jan. 12. They live in La Vergne, Tenn.

Terry McKee (BBA) and Michelle Lyles McKee (BBA '91) are the parents of Clint Lyles McKee, born March 14. He also was welcomed by his brother Connor, and sister Carson. Terry and Michelle own Kee-Force Inc., a document management and computer networking company in Paducah, Ky.

Dr. John A. Scott Jr. (EdD), clinical director of the Brief Psychotherapy Institute of the Rockies in Boulder, Colo, was named to Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.

1992

Tim Gwaltney (BSCE) is deputy engineer for the town of Collierville.

Christie Bing Kracker (BSEd, MS '94) is assistant dean of students and director of residence life at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky. She will begin work on a doctorate in educational administration this fall.

William A. Pinkley (MS) joined Buchart-Horn as a project manager and project engineer for civil and transportation engineering projects.

Jimmy Seeley (BBA, JD '02) is an attorney and vice president with First Tennessee Bank's personal trust division.

Dwight Vick (MPA) has accepted an appointment as assistant professor of public administration in the Political Science Department at the University of South Dakota. He had been an assistant professor with Troy State University's Pacific Region.

1993

Dr. Max Bayard (BS) is interim director of the East Tennessee State University Family Medicine Associates residency training program.

Julie Wittichen Gasaway (BFA), a certified interior designer, is an associate at Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects.

Dennis Wolf (BPS), chief of the Germantown Fire Department, was accepted into membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers.

1996

Jennifer Church (BA) had a showing of paintings at the Bartlett Performing Arts Center.

Eve C. Moore (BBA) is director of finance for Embassy Suites Hotel New York City. She lives in New York's Battery Park City with her husband and daughter.

Brandon Oliver (BBA, MBA '99) directed the political affairs/grassroots efforts of U.S. Rep. John Linder in the 2002 Georgia primary and for U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss in the general election. Oliver lives in Atlanta, where he is an associate with the consulting firm ICG Commerce.

Bren Olswanger (BA, JD '00) is a Shelby County assistant district attorney assigned to Division 7 of General Sessions Criminal Court.

Kevin A. Snider (JD) wrote the 2003 edition of Selected Statutes of Tennessee Consumer Law, a reference to more than 45 current state and federal statutes in the areas of consumer law and consumer transactions.

Vera Stephenson (BLS) has opened a dance studio, Reverence Academy of Dance, in Boulder County, Colo. She received her teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance.

1997

Heather B. Baugus (BA) is executive director of AIA Memphis, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Yukiko InoueYukiko Inoue (PhD), associate professor of educational research at the University of Guam, received the 2003 President's Research Award for her work "The Influence of Diversity Experiences on Critical Thinking and Communication Skills in UOG Students."


Monika Johnson (JD), special counsel with the Memphis City Attorney's Office, was named president of the Ben Jones chapter of the National Bar Association.

Jon Rowland (BBA), manager of national desktop support for Union Planters Bank, has been included in the 2003-04 edition of the Empire Who's Who Executive & Professional Registry.

1998

Heather GunnHeather R. Gunn (JD) has joined the Knoxville law firm of Howard & Howard. She had been an associate with Young & Perl in Memphis.

 


Karen Stachowski (JD) is an associate with the law firm of Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis in Nashville. She works in the regulatory group with an emphasis on environmental law.

Lori Allen (MPA) is a grant writer and community organizer for the nonprofit community-development group EnterpriseMaine.

Scott Bronze (BA) and Emily Cline Bronze (BA '01) welcomed the birth of their first child, Connor MacKinnon Bronze, April 17 in Chattanooga. Scott is a police officer and Emily works for the local CBS affiliate.

Tako Saiin (MBA) joined Archer/ Malmo as a database analyst.

2002

Chirag Chauhan (MBA) has been awarded the Certified Financial Planner designation from the CFP Board of Standards. He is vice president of the Southeast Division for AXA Advisors LLC.

Chett Hopper (BA) is an executive analyst for the George S. May International Company.

Jim O'Donnell (MA) won an honorable mention for his film Ray4theNBA at the George Lindsey University of North Alabama Film Festival.

Kirk Richardson (BBA) was promoted to loan officer at InSouth Bank's South Tipton branch. He lives in Covington, Tenn.

John P. Wade (JD) joined the law firm of Stewart & Wilkinson. His primary practice is civil litigation in the areas of insurance defense and coverage.
