Celebrate All Things Sustainable at Tiger Blue Goes Green Day Sept. 27

September 6, 2016 - Under the theme "Sustainable Moves," the University of Memphis will host its annual Tiger Blue Goes Green Day on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The University's largest exhibition of sustainable living projects, activities and innovations will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Student Plaza. The event is free and open to the public.

Tiger Blue Goes Green Day is designed to encourage environmental awareness, inquiry and activism among students, faculty and staff. The event features numerous eco-friendly initiatives developed by the University and its community partners. Visitors will enjoy more than 40 exhibits and learn about green transportation, eco-friendly activities, recycling, job opportunities and more.

This year's theme, "Sustainable Moves," will be reinforced by Tiger Sports and Athletics, which will showcase a sustainability theme. Tiger mascot Pouncer will lead the dancing for a Memphis Healthy U event, and there will be plenty of healthy food.

Tiger Blue Goes Green organizers include the Center for Biofuel Energy & Sustainable Technologies (BEST), the Herff College of Engineering, the School of Public Health and the Fogelman College of Business & Economics. Student group co-sponsors include the Public Health Student Association, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Graduate Student Association.
