Dr. Maurice Mendel of the University of Memphis has received the highest honor bestowed by the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD). Mendel, dean of the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, has been selected to receive the Honors of the Council.

The award recognizes an individual’s contributions to CAPCSD and to higher education in communication sciences and disorders through clinical practice, teaching, research, administration, service, or legislative activity.

“I am grateful to receive this honor from the Council,” Mendel said. “I have been involved with this organization for many years, because I believe in its mission and the important steps it takes to support and further the academic programs in the field of communication sciences and disorders. It is truly a privilege to receive such high honors and recognition for work that means so much to me.”

Mendel will receive the award at the Council’s annual conference, which will be held April 18-21 in Newport Beach, Calif.
