Dr. Maurice Mendel of the University of Memphis has received the highest honor bestowed
by the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD).
Mendel, dean of the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, has been selected
to receive the Honors of the Council.
The award recognizes an individual’s contributions to CAPCSD and to higher education
in communication sciences and disorders through clinical practice, teaching, research,
administration, service, or legislative activity.
“I am grateful to receive this honor from the Council,” Mendel said. “I have been
involved with this organization for many years, because I believe in its mission and
the important steps it takes to support and further the academic programs in the field
of communication sciences and disorders. It is truly a privilege to receive such high
honors and recognition for work that means so much to me.”
Mendel will receive the award at the Council’s annual conference, which will be held
April 18-21 in Newport Beach, Calif.
