Celebrated author and UCLA professor Dr. Toni Yancey will deliver a lively, inspiring
lecture on the state of American fitness during a visit to the University of Memphis
on Dec. 8. She will discuss “Instant Recess: Building a Fit Nation 10 Minutes at a
Time” at 1 p.m. in the University Center Bluff Room (Room 304).
The presentation is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the talk.
Yancey is a professor in the UCLA Department of Health Services and co-director of
the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity in the UCLA School of Public Health.
She works to motivate Americans – persistently sedentary and plagued by obesity –
into action to improve their fitness.
Her talk is presented by the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP)
at the U of M’s School of Public Health.
Parking is available in the Zach Curlin garage adjacent to the University Center.
