The University of Memphis Lambuth Campus will host a workshop on the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Wilder
Student Union’s Jack Morris Ballroom.
The FAFSA determines the financial assistance students may receive to further their
education. The 2014-15 FAFSA will be available online Jan. 1 at www.fafsa.gov.
Stephen Moten of the Tennessee Student Assistance Corp. will explain the basics of
financial aid and how to complete the FAFSA. BancorpSouth and the Jackson-Madison
County Schools are partners in presenting the workshop.
Research shows that a lack of financial aid or inadequate funding presents a significant
barrier to higher education for many high school graduates in West Tennessee. Completing
the FAFSA can be challenging to both parents and students. Failure to complete the
FAFSA on time can result in a student losing out on financial aid.
To RSVP for the event, call Dr. Martha Robinson at 731-427-7961, Adam Johnson at 731-425-1964
or Recey Williamson at 731-425-7982.
