Estelle Winsett, assistant dean for Law Career Services with the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Memphis Bar Association.  Winsett fills a post on the board for which the U of M law school is given an automatic appointment.

Winsett joined the administration of her law school alma mater in August 2010.  She had received her law degree from the school in 1997, following her graduation from Vanderbilt University in 1994.  While a law student she was on the Moot Court Board and represented the University in the National Wagner Labor Law Competition.  She also clerked for Leonard Pierotti, a judge in Shelby County Probate Court.

Winsett has practiced insurance defense litigation and medical malpractice defense litigation, and she has represented management in labor and employment law disputes.

In 2004 she became client relations and placement director at Counsel On Call.  She has spent the past six years counseling legal professionals on career-related issues and building relationships with Memphis law firms and in-house legal departments.

“We are pleased and proud that Dean Winsett will represent the Law School on the local bar association board, while sharing her considerable legal experience with that body,” said Kevin Smith, dean of the law school.
