The University of Memphis will host “The Blaxploitation Poster Show” Wednesday, Feb.
13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ned R. McWherter Library, Room 226. The event is free and
open to the public.
Dr. Keith Corson, adjunct faculty member in the U of M’s College of Communication
and Fine Arts, will present an hour-long exploration of the film cycle (1971-1976)
that places the Blaxploitation era in a historical, political, aesthetic and economic
context.
Corson will discuss more than 100 titles, including Shaft’s Big Score! (1972), The Black Gestapo (1975), Dr. Black, Mr. Hyde (1976) and Black Shampoo (1976). He earned a Ph.D. in cinema studies from New York University.
