UofM Receives Education Group of the Year Award from Lifeblood

February 25, 2015 - The University of Memphis has received the 2014 Education Group of the Year Award from Lifeblood. It was presented at the 6th Annual Volunteer Awards Luncheon on Feb. 6.

This award for the top post-secondary institution recognizes total annual donations as well as increases from year to year. The UofM won Newcomer of the Year in 2012.

The UofM’s contributions were described in these words at the presentation: “The winning school has become a vital part of Lifeblood’s collections, donating 628 units in 2014. They have always had strong participation from their students and administration, and their donations have steadily increased over the past three years.”

“It was a great honor for the University of Memphis to receive this recognition,” said Danny Armitage, associate vice president for Student Affairs/Student Life and dean of students. “It demonstrates what a great community of students, faculty and staff we have at the University of Memphis.”

The UofM and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity will host a blood drive in partnership with Lifeblood on Tuesday, March 3, and Wednesday, March 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Rose Theatre on campus. The blood drive is open to students, faculty, staff and the community.
