The University of Memphis announced today that it is waiving its application fee to
increase access to education for all interested high school students.
“We want to assist students in achieving their educational goals, so the University
is implementing a first-time freshman application fee waiver for those who find the
application fee to be a financial hardship,” said Betty Huff, vice provost of Enrollment
Students may obtain an application fee waiver by submitting one of the following documents:
- National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) Application Fee Waiver
Request Form (available on the NACAC homepage,) or
- ACT/SAT Fee Waiver, or
- Evidence of participation in the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch Program, or
- Evidence of status as a ward of the state or placement into foster care.
The current $25 application fee will still be required of students who do not satisfy
the criteria for the waiver.
