For press information, contact Edmond McDavis, 888-862-5326

Melissa “Missy” Marshall has assumed the position of executive director of Keep Tennessee Beautiful (KTnB).

Marshall comes to Keep Tennessee Beautiful with more than 20 years of experience in public service. She began her career in state government as a public health educator for the Tennessee Department of Health.

Since 1995 she has held several executive positions, serving as legislative liaison for eight state departments, nine commissioners and on the teams of three governors.

Prior to her recent appointment, Marshall served nine years as director of Communications and External Affairs for the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Development Disabilities (DIDD) and worked on the transition team that assisted the legislature with establishing the DIDD.

“I am honored to be selected to lead the KTnB organization,” Marshall said. “I am looking forward to meeting with and hearing from the state affiliates and local communities on how we can better assist them. I am grateful to be working with such dedicated and knowledgeable staff, board members and local affiliates. I feel privileged to be able to serve the citizens of Tennessee in this capacity.”

A Maryville native, she received a bachelor of science in communication from Middle Tennessee State University, where she focused on public relations and minored in business administration. She is also a graduate of LEAD Tennessee, the state government’s premier leadership training initiative.

Marshall lives in Collierville with her husband, Barry. They have four children: Alex, Blake, Addy and Barrett.

Keep Tennessee Beautiful is the state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful Inc., and is part of Extended Programs at the University of Memphis. The initiative, funded by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, is a statewide public service program to educate and encourage Tennesseans to take responsibility for improving their community environment.
