The University of Memphis invites students, parents, faculty and staff to the 2012
Off-Campus Housing Information Fair Wednesday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in
the University Center Ballroom. Admission is free; door prizes will be awarded.
This event is sponsored by the Adult and Commuter Student Services department, which
provides campus and community resources and services for commuter students - students
who choose not to live in University-owned housing.
The purpose of the fair is to provide students with an opportunity to obtain information
about off-campus housing options and services in the community. The University welcomes
the opportunity to connect with the Memphis and Mid-South community in a collaborative
effort to help students meet their housing needs. Participants may speak one-on-one
with representatives from local housing/apartment properties and other related vendors
about their amenities, services and specials.
In conjunction with the Off-Campus Housing Information Fair, Adult and Commuter Student
Services will also host the seminar “Understanding Leasing Agreements” Wednesday,
March 14, at 10:20 a.m. in the University Center, Room 338. The seminar will focus
on topics such as safety and security, tenant rights and responsibilities, lease agreements,
what to look for during a housing search, and other subjects pertaining to off-campus
housing. The facilitator will be Larry Baer, an attorney with the Baer Law Firm.
The Adult and Commuter Student Services department provides commuter students with
a supportive environment that promotes intellectual, social and academic growth and
development through services and programs that foster lifelong learning.
For more information on the fair or seminar, contact Joy R. Stout or Heather Hampton
