The University of Memphis’s Center for Information Assurance will host the Fifth Annual
Cyber Security Expo at the U of M’s FedEx Institute of Technology on October 19. Cyber
security experts will be on-site for presentations, networking and training to discuss
such issues as mobile device security, identity theft, cloud security, social media
threats, virtual supply chain, and organized cyber-crime, with a special focus on
business issues.
Speakers will include Dr. Ron Ross, Computer Security Division, Information Technology Laboratory, National
Institute of Standards and Technology; Dr. Abel Sanchez, executive director, MIT Geospatial
Data Center; Nik Puri, vice president, IT, Compliance and Information Assurance, FedEx
Services;Dr. Gerry Dozier, professor and chair, Computer Science Department, North
Carolina A&T State University; Dr. Vipin Swarup, chief scientist, Mission Assurance,
MITRE Information Security Division; and Kevin Hutchison, operations lead, IRS CSIRC
This year’s Expo will also present a special panel on recruiting women to cyber-security
careers. The panelists will include moderator Ambareen Siraj, Tennessee Tech University;
Ronda Henning, Harris Corporation; and Yuan Xue, Vanderbilt University.
The registration fee is $125. The fee includes sessions, meals, refreshments, and
parking. Discounts are available for U of M staff, faculty, students, and other groups.
