ARAMARK, Tiger Dining will take the University of Memphis “out to the ball game” Thursday,
Oct. 4, when they host the “Fall Classic” on the Alumni Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A miniature baseball field with an outfield barrier will be assembled for the event,
and students can showcase their batting power as they participate in a Wiffleball
home run derby.
To play, students are asked to donate $5 to St. Jude’s Charities. All the money collected
from entry fees will be given to St. Jude. Entrants will also receive a complimentary
St. Jude T-Shirt (while supplies last).
ARAMARK, Tiger Dining will crown a Home Run King and Queenafter the final round, which
begins at 3 p.m.
Additionally, the U of M community can enjoy grilled favorites fresh off the “Fall
Classic Grill” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Grill will be immediately adjacent to the
Alumni Mall.
Tiger Dining received support for its Fall Classic from U of M organizations and departments
Up ‘til Dawn, Campus Recreation and Intramural Services, Physical Plant, Department
of Residence Life and Dining Services, and Memphis Healthy U.
ARAMARK, Tiger Dining Marketing Manager and event coordinator Sean Armstrong said,
“It is an absolute pleasure for our staff to serve the University of Memphis. Our
events have certainly grown in popularity with our students over the past year. I
know this event will stir much excitement, and I hope to bring the “Fall Classic”
back each year – not only for our community, but for St. Jude’s Charities.”
Director of Residence Life and Dining Services Peter Groenendyk, said, “We’re very
excited to see this event in action, because it has been highly anticipated, and it
is for a wonderful cause.”
