For release: October 18, 2013
For press information, contact Gabrielle Maxey, 901/678-2843

The Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis (CIUM) is offering Chinese language and culture classes for individuals and groups of all ages. The CIUM provides courses in the afternoons, evenings and Saturdays (as needed) on the U of M campus. All classes are taught by certified teachers and professors who are native speakers with a specialty in teaching the Chinese language to non-native speakers.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to offer classes each semester to members of our community,” said Dr. Hsiang-te Kung, CIUM director. “Presently, we are teaching Chinese language and culture at more than 50 K-12 schools and universities across the state. Our afternoon, evening and weekend classes provide an additional opportunity for students of all ages to learn more about China, the Chinese culture and the Chinese language.”

For additional information about classes or the CIUM, visit www.memphis.edu/cium or contact Riki Jackson at riki.jackson@memphis.edu or 678-3166.
