The Memphis Research and Innovation Expo will showcase the global advances being made
at the University of Memphis and at local research-oriented companies. The expo will
be held Thursday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the FedEx Institute of Technology
on the U of M campus.
Admission is free and open to the public. Paid parking is available in the Innovation
Drive garage across from the FedEx Institute.
Among the projects featured will be research on invasive beetles, a demonstration
of a hand-held pocket radar, and a study of obesity’s negative impact on joint and
spinal implants.
Stan McChrystal, a retired four-star general and former commander of U.S. and international
forces in Afghanistan and former leader of Joint Special Operations Command, will
be the featured speaker. He is now a senior fellow at Yale University’s Jackson Institute
for Global Affairs, where he teaches a course in leadership.
McChrystal’s speech about leadership and management strategy will begin at 9:30 a.m.
