Workshops and Reading Series

The Pinch Summer Workshop Series: "This brand new series unites top graduate students in our MFA program, eager to share their knowledge and passion for their craft, with writers from all walks of Memphis life for intensive (and fun!) one-week creative writing workshops in fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction. The workshops are affordable, and such proceeds as we do collect go directly toward keeping our beautiful journal in print." Learn more.

Story Booth of Memphis: "This unique space is dedicated to helping young people in Memphis (aged 10-18) develop their own voices through creative and expository writing and other free project-based art workshops. Story booth is also the dedicated venue for all literary programming of Crosstown Arts and hopes increasingly to serve as a hub to foster community among writers in Memphis, and to make creative connections between readers and writers." Impossible Language: "This vibrant poetry reading and (sometimes) art series is usually held at story booth, an alternative literary space at Crosstown Arts, and has twice been featured at the Mid-South Book Festival. We've been honored to host a diverse array of local, regional, and nationally recognized poets. See the archive at the Impossible Language tumblr; join the community at the facebook page; and contact series coordinator Ashley Roach-Freiman at impossible.language.memphis@gmail.com."
