Management Information Systems (MIS) is the application of information technologies to business, including computers and communication networks, with an emphasis on the management of all information systems. Virtually every type of business is dependent upon information management.

The U.S. Department of Labor consistently lists System Analysis, Database Administration and Network Administration among the top ten fastest-growing fields. The MIS Program in the Fogelman College differs from other technology programs in that students build a foundation of business knowledge that encompasses courses in functional areas such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing.

Students with majors in MIS may complete individual courses or the entire BBA degree program in an online environment. The Fogelman College of Business and Economics is part of an elite group of schools to have all of their academic programs fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)—the premier accrediting body in business education.

Departmental Areas of Emphasis:

The content areas of MIS include systems analysis and design, database management, telecommunications and networks, client-side and server-side computer programming, information systems project management and information resource management.
