Management Information Systems (MIS) is the application of information technologies
to business, including computers and communication networks, with an emphasis on the
management of all information systems. Virtually every type of business is dependent
upon information management.
The U.S. Department of Labor consistently lists System Analysis, Database Administration
and Network Administration among the top ten fastest-growing fields. The MIS Program
in the Fogelman College differs from other technology programs in that students build
a foundation of business knowledge that encompasses courses in functional areas such
as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing.
Students with majors in MIS may complete individual courses or the entire BBA degree
program in an online environment. The Fogelman College of Business and Economics is
part of an elite group of schools to have all of their academic programs fully accredited
by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)—the premier accrediting
body in business education.
