About | Requirements

Management Information Systems (MIS) is the application of information technologies, including computers and communications networks, to business. An MIS degree appeals to students who wish to combine technology, business management, and communication skills in leadership positions.

  • Information System (IS)- a combination of hardware, software, and telecommunications networks that people build and use to collect, create, and distribute useful data in organizations

  • Emphasis on both the technology of the business world and the related management issues, i.e., the organizational and behavioral impact of technology

  • NOT computer science

  • Focus is on how we use technology to solve problems or leverage opportunities

  • Enables competitive advantage

Students who earn a B.B.A. in MIS will be able to choose from a variety of career opportunities in every type of business. The field offers national and international jobs in both conventional and online working environments. Virtually every type of business is dependent on information systems, so MIS majors are in demand.
