Biographical Summary Dr. Chen Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at the
Fogelman College of Business & Economics at the University of Memphis. She is also
a Systems Testing Research Fellow for the Fed Ex Institute of Technology.
Dr. Zhang’s research has primarily focused on individual behavior in online communities
especially in open source software development communities and other IT-enabled co-creation
communities. She is also interested in how information influences individual decision
making and how organizations’ information capabilities create business value. Her
other research interests include the relationship between user-generated content and
online consumer behavior, the adoption and impact of social media in organizations,
and software development process improvement.
Dr. Zhang has published her research in Information Systems Research, a top journal
in MIS, AI Magazine, and proceedings of major international conferences such as International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS).
She has taught courses in Application Development, Data Communications and Networks,
Computer Hardware and Software, and Introduction to Business Microcomputer Applications.
She holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Purdue University, a M.S.
in Computer Science from Wright State University, an MBA from Bowling Green State
University, and a B.S. in Economics from Beijing Normal University in China.
