To be the best, come learn from the best.

If you are a serious music student, you'll fit in perfectly here. Our program provides the perfect balance of artistic rigor, relevant academics, and rich experiences. The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the UofM is one of the largest music schools in the southeastern United States. We offer degree programs in virtually every area of musical interest, and we are the only institution in Tennessee that offers a doctoral degree in music.

We currently have over 400 students, with forty-three full time faculty and more than twenty adjunct instructors. This student/instructor ratio will allow you to become close to our outstanding faculty of artists and pedagogues who were trained at some of the best institutions in the world.

Our history dates back more than one hundred years, but our student-centered approach is in tune with the twenty-first century. Our goal is to make you feel well supported, and free to follow your individual creative path in music, no matter where your passions take you!
