Jeffrey Izzo is Visiting Assistant Professor in Music Industry Studies for the 2011-2012 academic
year. During his 17 years as an entertainment and media attorney, Mr. Izzo has represented
songwriters, performers, independent record companies, authors and filmmakers, and
has worked as in house counsel for independent film production companies and multi-media
organizations. He has also taught entertainment law at New England School of Law and
has written extensively on copyright, distribution and other entertainment industry
issues. He earned his Juris Doctor at Seattle University School of Law.
In addition to his comprehensive experience as a lawyer, Mr. Izzo is an accomplished
composer, lyricist, vocalist, pianist and guitarist. He holds a Bachelor of Music
in Composition from Berklee School of Music, where he studied under the late Jeronimas
Kacinskas, and a Master of Music from the University of Edinburgh, where he studied
with renowned British composer Nigel Osborne. He has composed everything from pop
songs to symphonic, chamber and choral works, but his passion remains music for the
theater. He is currently at work on the score and lyrics for a full-length book musical
that is soon to enter workshop development at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York
City.
