Mon 28-Sep 7:30 PM U of M Symphony Orchestra The orchestra will perform the overture from Wagners Der Fliegende Hollnder (The Flying Dutchman) and Castelnuovo-Tedescos Concerto for Guitar, featuring soloist Lily Afshar. Also on the program will be Sibelius Symphony No. 1. $A
Wed 30-Sep 7:30 PM Luis MaGalhes and Nina Schumann, pianists The Portuguese - South African piano duo will perform Music for Two Pianos. The duo has achieved international recognition, with performances across the USA, Germany, South Africa, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, and Japan and have been praised for their display of synchronicity and technical prowess, expressive feeling and insight. Thu 1-Oct 7:30 PM U of M Wind Ensemble The program Traveler is a rolling landscape of wind music featuring works by Maslanka and Ewazen. Also featured are faculty tubist Kevin Sanders in a work by Charles Booker, and faculty violinist Timothy Shiu in an arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakovs Scheharazade. Harris $A

Sat 10-Oct 7:30 PM Ceruti Quartet and Blair Quartet Ceruti, the string ensemble in residence at the U of M, will perform the Mendelssohn Octet with the Blair Quartet, faculty string quartetfrom VanderbiltUniversity.The Blair Quartet has been praised for combining technical expertise and emotional fire.
