The guitar ensemble consists of a guitar quartet plus trios and duos. Students who participate in the ensembles are both graduate and undergraduate guitar majors. They meet once per week for rehearsals and receive coaching from Dr. Lily Afshar. The ensembles perform regularly in string divisionals, full music workshops, studio concerts, and around campus. The performers are members and officers of the University of Memphis Classical Guitar Society and help promote the guitar at the University and in the community through concerts and teaching. Their programs include music from the classical period to the contemporary and they are often joined by singers and flutists.
